With the move to Community America Ballpark, the tailgating experience that many folks took for granted in the expansive blacktop of the Truman Sports Complex has changed somewhat. Tailgating is limited to the season ticket holders lot this year. Don't worry, though, we're here to help.
You may have wandered by, smelling the food that we're cooking and looked on at the group of blue-clad crazies who were congregating in front of an RV and thought "those guys look like they're having fun..." but never felt comfortable coming over to say hey. You may have also brought a group of friends out but not really wanted to mess with the hassle of bringing a grill, coolers, food, etc. with you to the game. Or you may be one of the many new fans coming out to a Wizards game for the first time and aren't quite sure of what all goes on at a soccer match.
In whatever case, we'd like to extend an invitation to you to join us this year. We're just a group of three dedicated season ticket holders who have spent the last couple of years perfecting the art of the tailgate. We won't bite.. We promise. Despite what you might think, we'd love to have every Wizards fan come and join us at our tailgate. That group is composed of fans just like you. Some of us stand in the Cauldron and go crazy for all 90 minutes and some of us sit in the stands on either sideline watching the game. But we're all there for the Wizards.
We take care of all of the hard work - plates, drinks, silverware, cooking, cleanup, etc... - all you have to do is come over and join us, share a bite to eat and your passion for the Wizards. We're at the ballpark around 3 p.m. and we start serving at 5 p.m. It's all you care to eat, and we promise you won't go away disappointed.

Very nice. A great way to advert the tailgate.
So is the roasted eagle actually chicken, or some other flavorful bird?
No, the eagle isn't actually eagle. While we'd love to do that, we're a little more partial to our freedom. It will taste a lot like turkey...
Also, to answer a question that was raised on BigSoccer: this tailgate is not restricted to season ticket holders. We're just restricted to tailgating in the PARKING LOT reserved for Season Ticket Holders. Since CAB is the only stamp of private property (other than the speedway, which is off-limits anyway) that the Wizards control, it's the only place that tailgating is allowed. You can't tailgate (or drink) in the Legends parking lots, and you can't even park in the other lots.
